Nestled off the beaten path in Portland’s vibrant Overlook neighborhood, The Alibi Tiki Lounge is much more than your average tiki bar. Combining a lively karaoke hotspot with a full-service restaurant and an atmosphere steeped in tropical charm, it’s a destination where fun and flavor collide in the best possible way.
Step inside and you’re transported to an immersive tiki sanctuary: dim lighting casts soft shadows over bamboo accents, retro Polynesian décor, and the unmistakable hum of vintage VHS classics like Wayne’s World playing quietly in the background. The lounge’s dark, polished ambiance sets the tone for a night that’s both relaxing and electric — where casual diners and karaoke enthusiasts can find their perfect groove.
The drink menu is a tropical treasure trove, boasting expertly crafted classics that sparkle with island spirit. Fans rave about the Mai Tai and Blue Hawaiian, but adventurous sippers should not miss the signature Banana Hammock or the famously shareable Scorpion Bowl for two. Each cocktail flirts with vibrant tropical flavors and expertly balanced spirits, leaving you with a refreshing, blissful buzz that perfectly complements the evening’s festive energy.
The kitchen holds its own with a menu that’s comfort food meets island favorites. Savor tender Teriyaki Chicken glazed with a slow-marinated sauce, paired with grilled pineapple and perfectly steamed mac salad and sticky white rice. The Kālua Pork, braised in banana leaves and smothered in BBQ sauce, melts on your tongue, capturing the essence of Hawaiian comfort. Light bites like crispy Coconut Fried Shrimp with house-made alibi sauce, or the crunchy Alibi Nachos topped with fried wonton strips and pickled jalapeños, offer a satisfying start or late-night snack. The option to turn any entrée into a sandwich served with waffle fries makes for a fun and casual dining experience that’s both inventive and comforting.
What sets The Alibi apart isn’t just the intoxicating cocktails or the delicious eats, but the feeling of belonging and vibrant community. Regulars and newcomers alike speak to how the karaoke here feels natural and joyous, not forced. As Miriam Pineda notes, the karaoke list moves fast for a reason — everyone wants to be part of the fun. Bartender Robert’s quick, friendly service complements the upbeat yet laid-back vibe, ensuring every guest feels like an island insider.
Whether you’re here to unwind with friends, belt out your favorite tunes, or indulge in Pacific-inspired plates, The Alibi Tiki Lounge crafts an experience that lingers long after the last sip. From its back-bar depth to its welcoming warmth, it’s the kind of late-night spot you’ll keep coming back to — a rare divey tiki bar that’s polished, playful, and genuinely fun. If you’re exploring Portland’s bar scene and crave a place where atmosphere meets delicious bites and unforgettable karaoke, The Alibi awaits.
One of the highlights of our 2 week PNW trip. Loved the decor and theme. Great music playing while the bartender sang along under her breath. VHS playing Wayne's World. Dark lounge atomsphere with that perfect tiki feel to every surface. Clean and well maintained. Had some simple bites to eat, not one disappointed. We walked but Portland is easy to get around and this was just off the beaten path. A gem. Wife and I hope to come back someday.
My favorite tiki bar in the area. Plenty of seating. Some of the best karaoke I've ever experienced. Get the scorpion bowl for 2!
The best Karaoke bar in town! The tiki drinks are super yummy, Banana Hamock is my go to. The bartender Robert is quick and friendly. The ambiance is great. Seating is perfect for large parties. Just make sure to get on the Karaoke list ASAP and again immediately after!
You can never go wrong here. It's a very diverse and super rad atmosphere. The vibe is good the food is good and the customer service is excellent Do you want to kick back somewhere and hang out or if you want to sing karaoke... it's cool because it's all separated and two different vibes and pretty damn cool The bar actually goes really far back and you don't know it and there's another bar behind the stage. Highly recommend for any occasion
This is an awesome divey tiki bar. The drinks are good, the food is tasty, and the vibes cannot be beat. The karaoke is fun and usually very busy, but everyone is into it and it doesn't feel forced the way some karaoke does. Absolutely recommend going here for a late night stop.
1947 Alibi Tiki bar, good vibes , great Atmosphere one of the top 10 Oldest Tiki Bars in the U.S. Karaoke was pretty fun, I think new owners and looks like they added a cool outdoor smoking area, Mens bathroom could you a face-lift but was clean. They could add Smart led bulbs and some smoke to the water feature maybe to attract newish crowds and more flaming drink options.Would recommend. Had the Scorpion drink and was pretty spot on.
This is my new favorite place! It is an old school tiki bar complete with the traditional food and tropical drinks. It feels like you just stepped back in time to the 50s LA tiki scene. I love the vibe there!
Deep, dark Tiki decor and vibe immediately bring a smile. Karaoke crowd is fun-loving and generous. Bartender Ashley is friendly, efficient and skilled beyond offered cocktail menu. John is new but clearly skilled at ensuring customers are having s good time. This is a fun factory!
